In their new lecture performance Hung Tongue, the art collective Slavs and Tatars explore voice-over translations and what they tell us about the performativity of language. In the former socialist countries of Central and Eastern Europe, voice-over translation has a long tradition and is often referred to as the "poor man's dubbing". Whether action film, audio book or news report - Slavs and Tatars questions concepts such as respect and disrespect in relation to text, language and especially speaking about others.
