Novel Istanbul:
Hearing the music in the city, or seeing the city in the music... Roman Istanbul can be seen as an "insider's view" of the history of this duo - inextricably linked to Istanbul. It aims to tell this rather familiar story first-hand and in their own language, addressing the musical potential of Istanbul, particularly the Roma as a focal point of this potential, in light of Istanbul becoming significantly more prosperous and in demand abroad in the 2000s. This current situation, in which musical styles and forms of performance are changing, brings issues such as the development of Roma identity and the change in the conventional description of the "musician" into focus.
