Mengene is a rock band founded and named by two cousins, inspired by their surnames. The band has a style dominated by alternative, modern rock sound and fueled by ethnic music. The founders of the band are actor and director Barış Atay and musician Nihat Mugil. Mengene was formed when two cousins, who are highly respected in their respective fields, decided to take their musical work, which began years ago when they got together, to a professional platform.

The band, whose style is characterized by alternative, modern rock sound and draws from ethnic music, has already released the singles İnce Memed (2021), Yürü Bre Hızır Paşa (2021), the album Değişim (2022) and the song Issızlığın Ortasında (2022) for the band's tribute album Moğollar.
