From St. Gallen to the world: Swiss-Tamil musician Priya Ragu was already part of her father's band, which played traditional Tamil music, as a child. As an adult, she moved to New York, where she wanted to work on her own music - which she then produced primarily via Skype with her brother, who had stayed at home in Switzerland. In 2021, she released her debut mixtape "damnshetamil", which became a hit thanks to songs like "Chicken Lemon Rice" and "Good Love 2.0". Interest in their unique mix of pop harmonies, danceable 90s R'n'B vibes and traditional Tamil elements was particularly high in the UK and India with its large Tamil communities. With her album "Santhosam", released last year, Ragu continues this story with tasteful confidence.
