A play about self-determination and consensus

Lily and Emma have been best friends forever. Emma and Lily's brother Chris have had a crush on each other for almost as long. At a party the likes of which the school has never seen before, the two get closer. But the next day, Emma has no memory of what happened that night. Instead of being happily in love, she avoids Chris and Lily. When the police start asking questions, the school is thrown into turmoil. Lily is also torn between her loyalty to her brother and her friendship with Emma. But then she posts a photo that fuels the rumors about the party night.

What is consent? Where does consent begin? With a pic that I post on social media? With a kiss? Is no "no" automatically a "yes"? In SELFIE, there are no bad intentions and yet there is an assault. Quintana sensitively tells the story of the encounter between two young people that could have been the beginning of a wonderful love story. Instead, they have to ask themselves questions about self-determination and guilt.
