Sonic Pluriverse Festival: Terapia - Sonic Interventions, Lia de Itamaracá, Maryisonacid

In the organizer's words:

Sonic Interventions

Sonic Interventions is a collective of interdisciplinary artists from five continents, currently based in Berlin. Founded in 2020 in the dynamic Berlin jazz scene, the ensemble combines a variety of languages with instruments such as saxophone, keyboards and timbales. Sonic Interventions incorporate futuristic visions and styles such as hip-hop, trap and house into their sound fusion, creating space for spontaneous creativity and collective euphoria. Their performances combine meditation and improvisation with groove.

Maryama Luccioni

Maryama Luccioni aka Maryisonacid is a DJ, promoter, curator and founder of the label and event series African Acid Is The Future. Her sets offer a unique blend of diasporic African sounds and electronic grooves, creating cinematic and immersive experiences on the dance floor. In addition to her work as a DJ, Maryisonacid has created radio shows for Worldwide FM and Berlin Community Radio, among others. In 2019, she was appointed guest curator at Berlin's Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. She has performed in clubs such as Panorama Bar at Berghain, Contact Tokyo and Printworks London and was resident DJ at Berlin's Tresor.

Lia de Itamaracá

Lia de Itamaracá is a prominent figure of Ciranda, a music and dance that embodies the rich cultural heritage of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. A fusion of Christian and pagan elements, ciranda uses the tradition of oral tradition to create links between generations and has developed into a powerful musical force. Lia de Itamaracá immersed herself in the world of ciranda at a young age and continued to hone her skills in dance circles. Her singing attracted attention and led to the release of her first album, A Rainha da Ciranda, in 1977. Despite critical acclaim, it was not a commercial success and Lia de Itamaracá spent the next three decades earning her living in a kitchen.

It was not until 1998, with a performance at the Abril Rock Festival, that her fortunes changed. The success of her performance paved the way for her 2002 album Eu Sou Lia, which brought her great recognition in Brazil and led to international tours. Her latest work, Ciranda Sem Fim, produced by DJ Dolores, is a celebration of ciranda that embodies both the essence of the past and the promise of the future of the genre.

To this day, Lia de Itamaracá remains a committed advocate of resistance and enlightenment, with ciranda as her main tool and purpose.
