Carnival parades 2024 in Cologne
Carnival is just around the corner and in addition to the pub and street carnival, the carnival processions are also taking place again this year. We have put together a fine selection of parades in various parts of the city - have fun catching carnival sticks and sweets!
Geisterzug
The "Jeisterzoch" will take place on the Saturday before carnival - this year under the motto: "Mer klävve am Lävve - Jeister för hück un murje"! The procession will move through Buchheim and Mülheim to Wiener Platz, where the final rally will take place. In addition to Ähzebär un Ko e.V., several social, cultural and religious organizations and schools are planning to take part in the procession.
Historisches Spiel von Jan un Griet
The historical play of Jan and Griet on Weiberfastnacht is a firm tradition in the southern part of Cologne and is performed on Chlodwigplatz. It's about love, arrogance, rich and poor - and late awakenings.
Sternmarsch 2024
Cologne's Veedelsvereine parade from all directions to the Alter Markt. They celebrate together in front of this atmospheric backdrop and sparkle through the dark night with sparklers. It's best to go early and secure a coveted spot in the stands!
Schull- un Veedelszöch
Line up at 11:11 am at Ottoplatz, the procession is the same as the Rose Monday procession. They always take place on Carnival Sunday in Cologne's city center.
