In the artist's words:

Annette Meisl had traveled halfway around the world as an artist agent, author and musician until one day she landed in Cuba and fell in love with the magic of tobacco and the art of rolling cigars. Her enthusiasm went so far that she asked the Cuban master roller Silvia Hernandez for instruction in this delicate manual work. Over the years, she learned first-hand the Cuban and later the Nicaraguan and Honduran intricacies of an art that dates back to pre-colonial times. Alone or together with her female rollers, she demonstrates the art of rolling cigars at events at home and abroad, teaches seminar participants how to roll cigars, gives exciting lectures and seminars on tobacco cultivation and the history of the cigar. She is one of the few women in the world to have created her own blend, which forms the basis for her now world-famous La Galana brand. The term ' cigar manufacturer', coined by Annette Meisl herself, describes this mix of craftsmanship, know-how, knowledge transfer and passion for tobacco.
