Today, Benjamin Appl is regarded as one of the most important ambassadors for the art form of song. His recitals are celebrated by audiences and critics alike in Europe, North America and Asia. In addition to the usual song repertoire, he also develops special program concepts time and again. His path to the top class of concert halls and festivals has been a steady one: from the Regensburger Domspatzen to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. He was significantly influenced by the legend of lieder singing Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, whose last pupil he was. His many years of intensive work with György Kurtág on his compositions were also formative.
