Bonner Kammerchor

The Bonn Chamber Choir is one of the most outstanding ensembles in the federal city of Bonn. The approximately 40 members of the semi-professional choir are characterized by their extensive experience in ambitious choral work, good vocal and musical equipment and their enthusiasm for high-quality choral music. The technical and musical demands of the choir are measured against professional standards.
The repertoire mainly comprises a cappella works from all eras, from Gregorian chant to world premieres. Through its continuous development, the choir has earned an excellent reputation for its homogeneous choral sound and its authentic and fresh interpretation of choral works from all eras. The programmatic concepts often open up surprising and impressive listening experiences for the audience.

Founded in 1973 as an ensemble of the University of Bonn, the choir can look back on a long and eventful success story: radio recordings, successful participation in national and international competitions and festivals as well as trips to Russia, Japan, Great Britain and Chile, among others. Most recently, the choir received the second-highest rating at the 2022 German Choir Championships and was awarded a Golden Diploma.

Since 2012, the artistic direction has been in the hands of Georg Hage. His predecessors were Philipp Ahmann (2005-2012), Peter Henn (1983-2005), Walter L. Mik (1976-1983) and Günther Cellarius (1973-1976). In 1976, the choir merged with the Collegium Cantorum Bonn, which was founded in 1956. The Bonn Chamber Choir is a member of the Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC).
