CERCA DIO

In the artist's words:

CERCA DIO is an independent theater company that has been producing the plays and productions of Dresden-based author, actor and director Johannes Gärtner since 2012: Created with the aim of rethinking and redesigning theater in our time, driven by the question: "What is culture and how do we want to live it?" CERCA DIO is committed to the constant attempt to reconnect tradition and modernity.

In times of multimedia upheaval, theater must provide new approaches beyond established structures and attract an audience that cares about these questions. A particular focus of CERCA DIO is on performing in rural areas in cross-regional cooperation.

Against the backdrop of a politically united Europe, the idea of a common cultural heritage must be constantly reformulated artistically. CERCA DIO works together with renowned artists from the fields of acting, singing, music, dance, visual arts and new media across genres and with very high artistic standards. Everything is in one hand: from the idea to the text book to the finished artistic production. We respond to people and their stories on site. With our long-standing and well-connected partners for advertising and marketing, we stage inspiring landscapes: In places that made history, we make the world speak.
