Bob Dylan was born on the same day as Christoph Fritz. But not in the same year.
At the tender age of 21, the less musical of the two twins (Christoph Fritz) ventured onto a stage for the first time. Just like that. Without any stage experience (apart from the unsuccessful candidacy for head boy in 2010 and the disastrous acting performance in the leading role of the midnight performance at the graduation ball of the Bundesrealgymnasium Stockerau in 2011).
While his first attempts at humor took place in English in the basement of an Australian pub in Vienna at the beginning of 2016, he soon expanded his range to include his native German. This was followed by several appearances on open cabaret stages and participation in competitions. Fritz has almost completely processed the resulting traumas.
In 2017, Fritz quits his job at the insurance company. His grandmother tells him about a house in Lower Austria that takes in old, impoverished artists.
His debut "Das Jüngste Gesicht" premiered in 2018. For Falter, he offers "[...] black humor in perfection. A great debut." The Wiener Zeitung sees "bitter satire with a babyface bonus". Fritz himself thinks it is his best debut program to date. "Das Jüngste Gesicht" was awarded the Austrian Cabaret Prize in 2018 and the German Cabaret Prize in 2020.
Television appearances on ORF follow: Pratersterne, Kabarettgipfel, Sommerkabarett, Was gibt es Neues?, Willkommen Österreich, ... As well as television appearances in Germany: Quatsch Comedy Club, Prix Pantheon, Olafs Klub, Vereinsheim Schwabing, ...
In spring 2022, he takes his first step towards Hollywood at the Gartenbaukino. He can be seen in a small role in the comedy film "Der Onkel - The Hawk" by Michael Ostrowski and Helmut Köpping. Sunk as deeply as possible into his armchair in the movie theater, people think he did a pretty good job of playing the bank clerk!
In September 2022, Fritz celebrates the premiere of his second cabaret program "Zärtlichkeit" at the Wiener Stadtsaal. The daily newspaper Die Presse writes: "[...] Christoph Fritz touches hearts and minds. With minimalist art, he plays his way to absurd heights with fabulous encounters." Der Standard finds: "Christoph Fritz is not such a hopeless case in real life." See for yourself! I'm currently zigzagging through the German-speaking world, almost as if I had lost my apartment key somewhere between Zurich and Berlin and now have to find it again.
