In the grid of Detlef Waschkau's colorful wooden reliefs, bright abstract areas of color mingle with razor-sharp contours of figurative forms. The information of pure color is just as relevant to us here as the realistic drawing of the flowers. After all, subjective and objective perception determine our view of the world in equal measure. And: standing directly in front of the reliefs, we can follow the growth of the flowers from the material in a very concrete way and can participate in the artistic process, which is otherwise hidden in the studio.
