Die P (born Patricia Pembele) is a German rapper from Bonn who has shaped the German hip-hop scene with her unconventional, technically skilled rap sound. Since her breakthrough in 2019, Die P has been known for her authentic, socially critical music and has significantly improved the standing of female and queer artists in German-language rap.

From Munich to Bonn – The Path to Becoming a Rapper

Die P was born in Munich in 1987 and moved to Bonn at the age of six, where she spent her childhood and teenage years. At age 14, inspired by *8 Mile*, she wrote her first rap verse. Shortly thereafter, as MC Double P, she took part in a battle rap competition in Cologne-Ehrenfeld and immediately placed third. Her musical influences range from Tupac Shakur and the Wu-Tang Clan to Lauryn Hill and German hip-hop legends like Kool Savas and Megaloh.

Artistic Breakthrough with“Alle Reden”

In 2015, Die P decided to present herself publicly as an art project under her shortened stage name “Die P.” Her major breakthrough came in 2019 with the single“Alle Reden.” The song was praised on Instagram by high-profile artists such as Megaloh and caught the attention of Lina Burghausen, the initiator of the prestigious “365 Female MCs” project.

365XX Records and the Debut Album

Burghausen immediately offered Die P a contract with her newly founded label, 365XX Records—Die P became the label’s first signing. In 2020, the EP“Tape”was released, followed in 2021 by the debut album“3.14,”which made history as the indie label’s first album release. The album was named “Album of the Week” by Musikexpress.

Boom Bap Instead of Trap—Conscious Rap in Germany

Die P deliberately sets herself apart from the current trends in German rap. Instead of relying on Auto-Tune and trap beats, she focuses on a classic boom bap sound with deep basslines in the Dr. Dre tradition and conscious lyrics addressing contemporary, socially critical topics. Her albums*BONNanza*(2022),*Bring da P Vol. 2*(2024), and*Magazin*(2025) showcase an artist who is constantly evolving.

Awards and Live Performances

In 2021, Die P received the popNRW Award in the “Outstanding Artist” category and was nominated at the Hiphop.de Awards—both for “Best Newcomer” and “Lyricist of the Year.” Her wild live shows have made her a feared and celebrated stage presence. Having made her name as a battle rapper and as the first signing to 365XX Records, she has shaken up the male-dominated German hip-hop subculture.

In 2021, Die P performed at the renowned Reeperbahn Festival, one of the most important music festivals in the German-speaking world. Her DIY ethos and unconventional artistic approach make her a key figure in the contemporary German rap scene.
