A packed nightclub. Shrill beats echo through the foggy room, rich synths waft through the air. Suddenly, a mournful trumpet sound fills the dance floor like a ghost: welcome to the world of DIE SELEKTION.

Melancholic yet hopeful trumpet melodies, German lyrics that make you question your own past and future all over again, synth sounds in the grand tradition of heroes like Depeche Mode, DAF, or Nitzer Ebb, combined with hard-hitting drum machines—this forms the foundation of DIE SELEKTION’s self-proclaimed “Prosecco Wave” world.

After thirteen years together as a band, three studio albums, a series of singles and EPs, and dozens of live shows in over 23 countries worldwide, band members Luca Gillian, Hannes Rief, Samuel Savenberg, and Max Rieger have turned DIE SELEKTION into an influential band that succeeds in bringing both goth kids and techno fans together on the same dance floor with a unique blend of synth-pop and electronic body music.

Now that we’ve arrived in 2024, the masters of the Prosecco Wave are finally back with their third studio album, *ZEUGE AUS LICHT* (released in September 2023), and the quartet (which performs as a duo live) is releasing a new studio album to the world and throwing a rave party on the ruins of the present, somewhere between the apocalypse and the rampant madness of our time. 

The new songs expand the band’s sound with an almost casual, elegant diversity. Every single element shines, and an understanding of what truly makes pop music pop comes to the fore, lending the black nihilism of dark electronic music a knowing, ironic luster. 

With no fear in their hearts, DIE SELEKTION is heading toward a new chapter. And we’re excited to see what’s next.
