Dietrich Wenzel

In the artist's words:

born in Berlin in 1943, spent his childhood in Kitzscher near Borna. After leaving school in Leipzig and serving in the army in Eilenburg and Zeithain, he completed an apprenticeship and worked as a chemigrapher ( production of printing forms for letterpress printing) from 1963-66 . From 1966-71, he studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, specializing in commercial art. However, the most important inspiration for him came during his basic studies with Werner Tübke (1966/67). After graduating in 1971, he worked freelance in Leipzig (mainly designing posters and book covers). In 1982 he was appointed for 2 years to work on Prof. Tübke's panorama painting in Bad Frankenhausen.
