Prof. em Dr., Zurich University of the Arts, studied mathematics and philosophy at the Universities of Cologne, Bochum and Darmstadt. Between 2004-2013 he held the Chair of Media Theory and Media Studies at the University of Potsdam, 2013-2021 he headed the Institute for Theory at the Zurich University of the Arts and was Professor of Aesthetic Theory, and between 2018-2021 President of the German Society for Aesthetics. Recent publications Epistemologien des Ästhetischen Zürich / Berlin 2015, Manifest der Künstlerischen Forschung. Eine Verteidigung gegen ihre Verfechter, Zurich / Berlin 2020, Humanismen und Antihumanismen. Kritische Studien zur Gegenwartsphilosophie, Berlin/Zurich 2024, as well as numerous studies on media philosophy, art philosophy, image philosophy and digital criticism.
