Duo Zamorano Stamer:
A long-time friendship and a profound love for folk music bind these two young jazz musicians from Hamburg, united in a duo dedicated to exploring the boundaries between Nordic folk tradition and jazz. Their arrangements of tunes from Scandinavia and the Celtic countries blend improvisational elements and harmonic diversions, while honouring the melody and expressiveness of traditional music.
Finn Stamer!s experience and playful virtuosity on the violin craft the melodic landscape, while Martín Zamorano provides the foundation with his polyphonic approach and groove-oriented percussive sound. The duo!s versatility is showcased through a range of different
instrumentations, including the Hardanger fiddle, octave violin, prepared piano, and Rhodes. Their original compositions embody this versatility, spanning from intimate and meditative moments to bursts of ecstatic and affirmative vitality. Stamer and Zamorano met in 2014 during their first semester of classical musical studies in Hamburg's University of Music and quickly developed a deep bond, both personally and artistically, through their open and genre-fluid understanding of music. After their first degree both moved on to study music from a different perspective: Zamorano focused on music theory and composition while working on his own ensemble SNiCE and Stamer started studying music pedagogy while playing in the upcomer band Heptapolka - well-known among folk fans in Northern Germany. But it was first 2022 in the Jazz Basement of Hamburg's Music university, where their idea for a duo emerged, after both decided to take another turn in their career and started studying a new degree in Jazz. Since then they have been developing a unique style, blending many musical and regional influences, such us The floating sofa quartett, La Musgaña, Aidan O'Rourke or the traditional music of Denmark, Spain and Scottland, and performing in several local venues around northern Germany.
