Since 1985, the members of Ensemble Recherche have dedicated themselves to the new and unknown. Over a period of more than four decades, with almost 1,000 world premieres and around 60 CD recordings, the Freiburg-based ensemble has shaped the musical present and written music history. The nine musicians - all internationally acclaimed soloists in the field of contemporary music - are united by a great desire to experiment and an enthusiasm for an intensive examination of the present. They put their enormous musicality and individual personalities at the service of the collective in order to research the musical present together as an ensemble. It is thanks to the great enthusiasm and personal commitment of each and every one of them that the independent ensemble has established itself as one of the most important players in contemporary music in 40 years.
