The male chamber choir ffortissibros originated at the J.W. von Goethe Music High School in Schwerin. In 2019, the year it was founded, the ensemble took part in the Limburg Male Choir Festival as the youngest and only choir from northern Germany, where it received a gold diploma and the special prize for the best interpretation of a romantic choral work. Benedikt Kantert took over as musical director in the same year. At the end of April 2022, ffortissibros took part in the world's largest male choir competition, the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival, and won first place in the category and overall rankings. Benedikt Kantert was also named best conductor of the competition. This was followed in 2023 by an outstanding success with first place at the 11th German Choir Competition in Hanover. The ensemble was honored for its cultural work with the Art and Culture Prize of the Sparkassenstiftung Mecklenburg-Schwerin and an entry in the Golden Book of the City of Schwerin.

Furthermore, the ensemble is characterized by a lively concert activity at home and abroad and has repeatedly performed in renowned concert venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Gewandhaus and the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. Performances at festivals such as Anima Mundi at the Duomo di Pisa or the Greifswald Bach Week round off the concert calendar. In 2024, the ensemble will be part of the "Young Elite" concert series at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.

In addition to its focus on a cappella music, the choir expands its repertoire by collaborating with orchestras and other ensembles. This includes discussion concerts, panel discussions and lectures, unusual concert venues and interactive workshops for children and adults. A particular focus of the choir's work is on premiering works by forgotten and new composers that transcend genre boundaries. These include the male choral works of composer Miloslav Kabeláč, which he composed as resistance music against the invasion of Nazi Germany in the Czech Republic. In 2024, a feature on the artist Mine's latest album "Baum" and the ensemble's first CD will be released. This contains works by the Schwerin composer Friedrich Wilhelm Kücken, which were recorded as world premiere recordings on the renowned label Rondeau in collaboration with Dr. Reinhard Wulfhorst and his music publisher Edition Massonneau.
