Francesca Martí

In the artist's words:

Francesca Martí lives and works on her home island of Mallorca and in Stockholm. In the early 1990s, she became part of the Spanish art scene with solo and group exhibitions in Palma, Barcelona and Madrid. Since then, her work has been shown in galleries and museums in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Jordan, South Korea, Turkey, the USA and other countries.

In 2007, her exhibition Soul in the Spanish pavilion of the X. International Biennial of Cairo was awarded first prize by the jury. A year later, the Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Palma de Mallorca presented her solo exhibition Echoes with video works and paintings.

In 2017, the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava dedicated a comprehensive retrospective of Martí's work, Transformation. In 2022, her exhibition Dreamers opened the new Xiao Hui Wang Museum in Shanghai. In addition to exhibitions in galleries in Düsseldorf, Munich, Cologne and Berlin, her work has also been shown at the Kunstmuseum Bonn (2003) and as part of the 27th Rohkunstbau exhibition at Altdöbern Castle (2022).

In 2023, DCV Verlag in Berlin published the 208-page publication Passage and Presence with texts by Mark Gis-bourne, Heike Fuhlbrügge and other international authors, which offers a comprehensive insight into Martí's artistic practice. A new 64-page publication is now being published to accompany the exhibition Passage at Haunt in Berlin.
