The first glance at François du Plessis' works is both fascinating and irritating. Multicolored structures, surfaces like stone, grains like annual rings - many associations open up, but the material remains mysterious at first. Only on second glance does it become clear that all the works are made of books: Book pages, book covers, book spines, bookmarks. The organic forms evoke associations with flora and microscopic structures - an allusion to the cycle of the book, which is created from wood.
