Whether in the Stadtgarten or on the lake stage, in the Konzerthaus or in one of Freiburg's community centers, the orchestra under the direction of Miguel Etchegoncelay lives for sophisticated, varied wind music with original compositions, arrangements of classical works or light music. Concerts at home and abroad, regular participation in regional, national and international competitions and the orchestra's active involvement in the training and further education of conductors have made the orchestra a figurehead for Freiburg and the region. The 60 amateur musicians from Freiburg and the surrounding area rehearse weekly on Wednesdays in the May-Bellinghausen-Halle in Freiburg-Haslach. The highest level orchestra is one of six ensembles of the Freiburger Blasorchester e. V. association, which has something for every age and every level of musical knowledge.
