Keeping your own diversity and still creating an unmistakable recognition value is something very few people succeed in doing - futurebae, on the other hand, has been a member of this select group for some time now. Almost as a matter of course, she combines electronic 80s influences, spherical trap sounds and R&B to create an aesthetic soundscape - summery dancefloor vibes and pop earworms here not only invite you to dance, but also to feel. Lukewarm nights, the great love and even the untouchable freedom seem to be within reach as soon as futurebae enters the stage.

It is not until 2020 that the young musician suddenly appears on the scene of the German music scene: "Coca Cabana" is the name of the single in collaboration with the experimental German rapper Dissy, whose club sound has now generated over a million views. The Berlin-based artist steps out of the shadows into the light and convinces from day one. October 2020 will see the release of her debut EP "K.T.U.L.E.S." - "No dates and easily sit one" demonstrates the zeitgeisty newcomer with a charming wink.

With her distinctive vocal color and collaborations with producer Tilmann Jarmer or the 80s indie pop trio Tropikel Ldt. futurebae is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new releases German pop music has produced in 2020. A flair for distinctive styling and an ear for electronic earworm hits that hit the mark one after the other - futurebae's appearance quickly becomes a recipe for success. In the summer of 2021, she plays her first gigs, including at the popular Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg or in Giessen at the Stadt ohne Meer festival initiated by the band OK Kid. Whether live or with new single releases in 2021 - futurebae takes a genre-flexible role in the German-language music landscape, which fans and critics:inside have been eagerly looking for so far.

Isolated by the pandemic and in parallel still caught up in the creative process of her first release, the new EP "Willst du mit mir gehen?" emerges last year, released in April 2022 via Universal subsidiary VIRGIN Music Label & Artist Services (formerly Caroline). Once again side by side with producer Tilmann Jarmer , six songs are created, all of which accompany the mental processes of a young woman searching for her place in the world between love life, self-empowerment and increasing responsibility for her own life. Futurebae is accompanied on her musical journey by her musician colleague Tom Thaler as well as the duo Hans und Hans . The EP's only feature part is also thanks to the Hamburg band Schorl3 . In this community futurebae steps on "Willst du mit mir gehen?" among other things the decision not to let the emotional fire go out ("Fieber") and at the same time to finally grab the Struggle with their own emotional world by the head ("Sowas wie ja", "Summer Love") - and at the end of the day finds out that it is more than okay to just be "Überall & nirgendwo". "Willst du mit mir gehen?" shows futurebae from a personal and close side, which at the same time creates identification space for an entire generation.

"This EP is like my own coming-of-age movie. It's a bit about love but also about finding out that you should stay true to yourself instead of conforming to others. It's okay to not be perfect and it's okay to be a little lost at times. Being caught in the middle is annoying sometimes, but it can also be nice not knowing where your journey is going."

The single "Comme Ci Comme Ca" captures perhaps the most important moment in a proud woman's self-empowerment, "I got it long ago that I'm not like you, your image is ruined, put a heart on it - I love you" futurebae sings on a laid-back beat. In the style of a personal mantra, she not only manifests her own independence from societal expectations, she also practices earnest acceptance towards the very people who eye this independence critically. Staying true to oneself, when one has to endure the rest of one's life with oneself, seems to be the most sensible decision for one's own empowerment - even if one simply has to give other people the middle finger for it.

And of course, growing up involves not only coming to terms with yourself, but also with your own desires. "Deine Haut" is the soundtrack for that moment in the club when the spotlights are dimmed and the last ray of light falls only on that one person who becomes the object of erotic fantasy. Sex positivity and self-determined femininity meet erotic fantasies:: "You're all I need, so undress me, so please pull me out into the frenzy," futurebae purrs into the ears of her listeners, while the slow, bass-heavy instrumental makes the sexually heated atmosphere not only palpable, but also audible.
