Cymin Samawatie - sound visions beyond borders

With her ensemble, founded in 2022, Cymin Samawatie presents herself as a pianist for the first time - experimental, multilingual and full of sonic curiosity. She interweaves warm woodwind colors with urban live electronics, Persian poetry and free improvisation.

The virtuoso ensemble plays with groove, breaks up structures, creates dense textures and lets soundscapes breathe, screech and shimmer. Every note is a statement - between composition and spontaneous sound development.

Known through Cyminology, the Trickster Orchestra and ECM releases, Samawatie presents herself here as a style-defining sound artist. Awarded the German Jazz Prize 2022, among others, she is one of the most important visionaries of contemporary music in Germany - uncompromising, poetic, electrifying.
