Artist's Statement "My work begins where the media meet.
What interests me about technology is not that it is modern, but that it enables me to create new spaces of experience. By assuming temporary states, discarding and reinventing themselves, my work explores the time-space continuum, makes it visible and questions its limits and experienceability. It explores the radius of media arrangements and their offer of participation."

As a media artist, Claudia Schmitz explores boundaries: Boundaries of perception, real and imaginary barriers, fluid processes, body discourses.

She uses sound, sculpture and projection, multidimensional drawing, (live) moving image and AI - in real space, in virtual and augmented reality - to explore new forms of sound, space and experience.
The questioning of hegemonic perception, the exploration of identity and space, reactivity vs. interactivity, inter- and transmediality, machine learning and artificial intelligence are the main themes of her current artistic research.

By assuming temporary states, discarding and reinventing themselves, their works explore oscillating stages of being and non-being, of existence inside and outside the image. They sound out the radius of media arrangements and the offer of participation

Thanks to the Goethe-Institut, the German Federal Cultural Foundation and many other funding institutions, her works have already been realized and exhibited in more than 20 countries.

As an internationally active artist and teacher, her work has won numerous awards and nominations and is represented in international public and private collections.
