In the artist's words:

For years, party democracy has been caught between the poles of change, loss of trust and pressure for reform. Declining membership figures, dwindling loyalty of traditional parties and the rise of populist or extremist movements point to far-reaching challenges for representative democracy. There has been talk of a "crisis" for decades - and yet it remains topical. This is because political, social and media conditions are changing rapidly and are constantly putting tried and tested structures, forms of communication and opportunities for participation to the test.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft e. V., the Saxon State Center for Political Education, the Foundation for Science and Democracy and the non-profit Hertie Foundation invite you to the XXIX Theodor Litt Symposium. Under the guiding question "How can a contemporary and sustainable party democracy be shaped - and what role does political education play in this process?", the symposium offers space for exchange on the state, challenges and development opportunities of party democracy. The aim is to gain concrete impulses for democracy-strengthening political education and new forms of social participation.
