Isabelle Schad

In the artist's words:

For 25 years, Isabelle Schad has been working successfully in Berlin with an open-ended group of artists. Her work combines a distinctive choreographic style, outreach, ongoing training, and practice. With over 60 works—presented at venues including HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Radialsystem, the Sophiensaele, and the Tanz im August festival—she has developed a distinctive artistic profile that combines choreographic precision with body research, somatic practice, and social thinking. Internationally, Isabelle Schad is represented in numerous contexts, such as ImPulsTanz Vienna, Montpellier Danse, the Venice Biennale, and the International Arts Festival Beijing. In collaboration with Goethe-Instituts worldwide, she shares her practice with a focus on community building through dance. Her Mobiles Ensemble brings together Berlin-based dancers with whom she has been engaged in choreographic processes, Aikido practice, and holistic bodywork for over ten years. At the Tanzhalle Wiesenburg, which she helped develop, she promotes knowledge exchange, collective processes, intergenerational learning, and holistic practice. She teaches at HZT Berlin, TEAK Helsinki, HfMDK Frankfurt, and in her Open Practice Sessions. In 2019, she was honored with the German Dance Prize. Her works *Harvest* (2021) and *Yuki Onna* (2024) were nominated for the IKARUS Prize.
