Jan Řepka & Zhenja Oks

Jan Řepka & Zhenja Oks, who met as part of the "Gundermann's Songs in Europe" project, are performing together for the first time at the TiK with a joint concert-dialogue.

Jan Řepka has been active in the Czech singer-songwriter scene since the late 1990s. As a song collector, he interprets numerous forgotten songs and songs in other languages. He prefers to go on tour by bike, most recently even with a special bike repertoire. His album "Čistý byl svět" (Pure was the world, 2010) was rated the best DIY folk recording of the year by the leading Czech genre magazine Folktime. Řepka's performances are characterized by his unforced singing and dynamic guitar playing.

Zhenja is an intuitive composer who brings to life poems from authors of diverse cultural backgrounds in a variety of languages. His songs reflect the atmosphere of the Odessa suburbs of his childhood, as well as the bright, contrasting life of his adopted home of Berlin. He interweaves traditional motifs with experimentally searching elements.
