Jo van Nelsen

Jo van Nelsen (born 1968 in Bad Homburg) is often described in the press as a "cultural all-rounder". He started out as a chansonnier and has so far brought 25 solo programs to the stage and 26 different recordings to the stores (including the top ten hit "Der Erdbeermund" in 1989). He works as an actor and presenter in theater and variety shows (e.g. Tigerpalast, Frankfurt/M.), on radio and television. As a narrator, he lends his distinctive voice to a wide variety of characters in such prominent games as "World of Warcraft" and "Final Fantasy". He has received the Ralph Benatzky Chanson Prize, the Wilhelmshavender Knurrhahn, the St. Ingberter Pfanne, the Thuringian Kleinkunstpreis and the Hessian dialect prize SPIRWES (artist award) in 2021. Since 2001, he has increasingly worked as a director in the field of theater and cabaret. As an author, Jo van Nelsen has published a standard work on the history of German cabaret chanson with dtv, and his first play premiered in Stuttgart in 2006. He has also been working as a systemic coach since 2009. He lives in Frankfurt am Main.
