Johannes Wasikowski

Johannes Wasikowski is one of the up-and-coming figures in the world of contemporary piano music, which lies somewhere between the genres of jazz, classical music and ambient pop. He lives and works in Leipzig. Inspired by the masterpieces of Erik Satie and Edvard Grieg, but also by contemporary greats such as Tigran Hamasyan and Nils Frahm, Wasikowski brings a new dimension to the solo piano genre with his outstanding technique, joy of playing and depth of composition and shows that there is still a lot to add.

On "Taumorgen", his debut EP, Wasikowski not only plays breathtakingly beautiful piano pieces, he also manages to tell stories and paint pictures. The sensitive and perfectly balanced playing forms the basis for pieces that hover in melancholy but always follow the light. Pieces full of clarity, introverted treasures, landscapes to listen to.

In 2023, Wasikowski went on tour with his program for the first time and delighted his audience with around 15 concerts. Reviews and feedback from renowned media and concert critics confirm his extraordinary talent. In 2024, his music took him abroad for the first time. He performed alongside Zuzanna Calka on World Piano Day in Warsaw and at the Piano City Festival in Madrid in June of the same year. A collaboration with the Goethe Institute also took him to Barcelona.

In his collaboration with the dance company "Tanzharz" under the direction of Tarek Assam, Wasikowski experiments musically with new forms and searches for powerful and moving music that is anchored in both the past and the present.
