CONCEPT AND PERFORMANCE

katze und krieg are the two artists - katharinajej and Julia Dick. They live and work in Cologne. They met in 2007 during their studies at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig. katze und krieg work on performative interventions in everyday environments of public space, e.g. supermarkets, office buildings, residential areas and pedestrian zones, always accompanied by an invited audience. In their performances, they shed light on existing conventions of urban life by playfully deviating from the prevailing structures and routines. In this way, they consistently and courageously examine behavior in public spaces and challenge passers-by and spectators to question their previous ideas.

katze und krieg perform in German-speaking and international spaces as part of various exhibitions and festivals such as the Goethe Institute Bangkok Thailand (2022), Museum Ludwig (2021, unauthorized), Köttinspektionen Uppsala Sweden (2020), Impulse Festival (2018) or Stromereien Zurich (2011). In the summer semester of 2021, they were invited to be guest professors of Performance Studies at Justus Liebig University Giessen. www.katzeundkrieg.de
