Ke Li

In the artist's words:

New Works- New works by the Chinese artist Ke Li (Kunstakademie Düsseldorf) will be shown at Galerie Jutta Kabuth from September 13, 2024.

The artist, who follows the ancient Chinese teachings of the 5 elements (wood, fire, metal, water and earth), creates reduced works that have a strong haptic appeal, especially due to their materiality (polyester resin, mirrors and vegetable and metallic components). The artist uses the plant or metallic components, which she transforms with pearls, gemstones etc. and encloses in polyester, as a synonym for the 5 elements of Chinese teachings. Mirrored surfaces with seemingly floating rectangles or incorporated gold pins, pearls, grains of rice or precious stones symbolize the sky, ice, clouds and the basic elements of ancient Chinese philosophy: innovative in their combination of concrete formal language with symbolic content; fascinating in their haptic effect - an extraordinary presentation.
