In the artist's words:

The band describes their style as 1000% Tropi Punk - with a wild mix of Afro-Cuban and Latin American cumbia influences, queerness and punk spirit, the musicians reinterpret Latin American heartbreak and macho posturing, bringing fun and politics together in their own captivating style.

The story goes back to 2007, when the musicians were bored with the punk rock scene and decided to do something completely different: Cumbia. What started as fun eventually led to the formation of Kumbia Queers. As NPR Latino says, "They're not a punchline. They're serious." Some of the Kumbia Queers played together back in the '90s in Buenos Aires in the legendary feminist punk trio "She Devils," whose characteristically grungy style is brought back to life in Kumbia Queer hits like "Mientes" and "Puesta."

Those who experience the band live on stage can look forward to a mixture of tropical punk originals, covers and new tracks from the current album Fiesteria. Kumbia Queers manage to build an incomparable relationship with their audience at every concert, the concerts are a give and take, a moment of great liberation and joy.

In over 15 years of existence, the band has toured extensively throughout Latin America, Europe and the USA and played at festivals such as Rock al Parque (COL), Cosquin Rock (ARG), Lincoln Center NYC (USA), Vive Latino (ESP), Vive Latino (MX), Boomtown (UK), Sumarscene (SWE), Festival Mundial (NL), Poolbar (A), TFF Rudolstadt (GER), Colors of Ostrava (CZ), Antilliaanse Feesten (B), Festival de la cité Lausanne (CH), Fusion Festival (GER) and many more. ...
