La Sécurité

Even if they strictly reject the label themselves, La Sécurité could certainly be described as a kind of supergroup in the cultural cosmos of Montreal. Consisting of members of bands such as Choses Sauvages, Silver Dapple, DATES or Pressure Pin, the collective plays an eclectic kind of punk that integrates elements of new wave, krautrock and synthpop with instinctive accuracy.

Like many projects these days, La Sécurité started out as an informal jam band during the Covid-19 lockdowns and initially only had the goal of trying out new instruments and song ideas. And as is so often the case, the project developed its own dynamic, which is now also reflected on the debut album "Stay Safe!".

DIY mentality in its purest form is poured into an almost subversive punk design and supplemented with self-modulated equipment. The result is quirky and often dreamy, reminiscent of the B-52s as well as Sweeping Promises and dedicated heart and soul to the ideals of female empowerment.
