Lars Eidinger - Biography

Lars Eidinger was born in 1976 in West Berlin, where he also spent his childhood. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be an actor and was active in his school's theater group, for example. In the 1980s, he gained experience in the youth program "Moskito". Lars Eidinger learned his craft at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin from 1995, during which time he already had an engagement at the "Deutsches Theater" and became part of the ensemble of the "Berliner Schaubühne" after his training.

The actor is married to the opera singer Ulrike Eidinger and has a daughter. The family lives in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

Career

Lars Eidinger at the theater

Lars Eidinger began his career at the Theater an der Schaubühne Berlin, where he became the star of the ensemble. In addition to modern plays, he also played roles in adaptations of Hamlet, Richard III and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". In 2008, Eidinger also made his debut as a theater director with a production of Schiller's "The Robbers".

Lars Eidinger has also appeared in plays at the Salzburg Festival. He made his debut there in 2011 in Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure".

Lars Eidinger in film and television

His career as an actor in film and television also began during this time. Initially with small roles in series such as "Schloss Einstein" and "Berlin, Berlin". His fame grew noticeably. He had further roles in productions of "Der Dicke", "Notruf Hafenkante" and "Minibar". He made his first feature film in 2007, when he was cast in a supporting role in "After Effect" by Stephan Green.

Current projects

In 2024 he will read Lars Eidinger Berthold Brecht's "Hauspostille" on various stages in Germany.
