In the artist's words:

Lena Grossmann (born 1991, Munich) is a visual artist and choreographer. At the interdisciplinary interface of visual arts and dance, she develops new forms of performative, social and situational spaces. Based on analytical and practical explorations of movement sequences in dance, she develops a range of possibilities in her artistic practice to approach the relationship between body and space. She develops formats from various elements of choreography, architecture, stage design, compositional notation and sculpture. In the combination of visual arts and dance, she searches for new body, form and visual languages, working together with dancers, performers and artists. Following her interdisciplinary approach, Lena Grossmann works on a movement notation system that visualizes thinking in terms of relationships between space and body. She lives and works in Munich.

Lena Grossmann studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Prof. Olaf Nicolai (master student) and music composition (MA) at the ZhdK Zurich with Prof. Isabel Mundry. For WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SEE? - ON BEING WATCHED she received the individual project grant from the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.
