LISL writes intimate yet huge indie anthems and sounds like the English Riviera or a road trip from Portland to New York. But LISL is actually one of the best-kept secrets of the German music scene, her name is Lisa-Marie Kämpf and she comes from Würzburg.

That sounds local and homely at first, because a "Lisl " flirts with Bavarian local color: the abbreviation conjures up an image of a cheeky, unpretentious girl. The musical alter ego, however, is a LISL who brings her soul and world of thoughts to the public via deep, English lyrics that are gen-Z-relatable. Her contemporary indie rock is in the tradition of Liz Phair, Ani DiFranco, Lucinda Williams or That Dog, who sowed guitar-saturated seeds in the 90s - and today ties in with Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, BECKS, Florence Armand, mxmtoon or Julien Baker.

LISL stands out - in the German music landscape, her international sound stands out with its warm, rich production and confident, classic songwriting, which quickly landed her on the BBC' s UK list - but first things first!

The musician, born in 2000, has checked off quite a few milestones along the way: LISL learned to play the keyboard at music school at the age of five, later adding piano and guitar. In 2014, she started uploading cover songs to YouTube. LISL tried her hand at it and brought songs by Ed Sheeran, Dodie, Ruth B. and Pale Waves to life with her authentic voice on the piano: without make-up, harsh lighting, microphones or filters, LISL simply sat in her children's room, complete with Ikea bed frame, and sang songs by her heroes. Often in semi-darkness, and not everything is tidy - her sweet spot is pure and genuine. Her versions quickly find enthusiastic fans and followers - but covering is not enough for LISL. She dreams of writing her own songs.

In 2022, she released the song "Fever " with her first music project, the UK-DE duo Brown Bear Collective - and immediately hit the mark with important tastemakers: Brown Bear Collective was featured in the renowned newcomer series "BBC Music Introducing".

2024 is then LISL'syear of solo anthems: In February '24, she releases her debut single "A Little Lost " - LISL'spersonal "fuck you" anthemto her struggle with social anxiety and a first taste of her debut EP, which drops in January 2025.
