“Electro-pop with ‘main character energy,’ but weird”—that’s how LNA responds to the
frequently asked question about how to categorize her music. And with that,
a mental notebook for all the associations that arise in connection with
LNA’s songs: a memorable voice that is often used like a musical instrument
, empowering lyrics that draw from themes of feminism, sexism, overwork, and queerness to embody the self-assured activism of young people who want to bring about change. And, of course, LNA’s clearly articulated critique of the current state and structures of the music industry. With her single “Boys Club,” released in March of this year, LNA denounces the exclusive “boys’ club” of the music industry, thereby securing the support and

solidarity of numerous colleagues. It is precisely this connection to FLINTA
colleagues is a central element of LNA’s creative work. What began in 2019 as an indie-folk project has rapidly evolved over the past two years into electro-pop with indie influences, ready for the big stages. This is evident from the fact that in 2022, the 25-year-old performed at the Reeperbahn Festival, Waves Vienna, and c/o pop, and
has already been booked as a support act for indie artists such as Anaïs, Jesper Munk, and Mayberg.

LNA doesn’t believe in genres, but she does believe in recognizability—and we’ll certainly have many more opportunities to recognize that gentle, empowering voice in the future. The project is part of the 24th generation of the Bandpool (the flagship support program of the Popakademie Mannheim) as well as the by.on flagship support project of the Bavarian Association for Pop Culture, and has already received funding from Initiative Musik on several occasions.
