MACH ONE

In the artist's words:

Christoph Bodenhammer was born on April 5, 1979 in the east of Berlin, which was still separated by the Wall at the time. Two years before reunification, his mother emigrated with him and his younger brother and moved into an apartment at Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg.

The district was on the edge of the walled-in "American Sector" and was characterized by Turkish guest worker families and the alternative squatter scene that had moved in.

Under the pseudonym "MACH ONE", Bodenhammer made a name for himself in the Berlin graffiti scene in the early 90s. In the late 90s, he used his now nationwide fame to launch a career as a producer, sound engineer and musician, which earned him two gold records and various chart positions.

Today, "MACH ONE" is known as a legendary graffiti artist, graphic designer, painter, musician and tattoo artist.
