Biography Michael Goerner

Michael Goerner was born on the last day of the 1960s. After studying law in Mainz and Hamburg, he pursued a career as a journalist and marketing expert. He embarked on his artistic mission a good two years ago. In a short time, the visual artist became a new face on the international art scene.

Michael Goerner's goal is the photographic visualization of emotions in the face of profound social change towards a predatory culture. He is driven by the search for truth and truthfulness. Michael Goerner lives and works in Hamburg, on Lake Constance and in northern Italy.

His personal visual expression is characterized by coarse-grained black and white, blurred contours and high contrasts. In essence, he is less concerned with depicting the motif itself than with using it as a carrier and mediator of existential emotions.

In his photography, Michael Goerner works with digital full format, analog medium format and mobile photography. Stylistically, he moves between documentary and conceptual photography, minimalism, ICM and street. His artistic role models include Antoine D'Agata, Daido Moriyama, Francis Bacon, Michael Ackerman and Martin Bogren.

His work has recently been shown in several solo and group exhibitions in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK.
