Mieko Suzuki

Mieko Suzuki is a Hiroshima-born sound artist, composer, DJ and composer-performer who lives in Berlin.

She deals with time and space as her primal matter. In highly unconventional sound performances, for which she uses drones and field recordings, the crackling of electrical circuits and fragments of records, Mieko Suzuki always focuses on the unexpected. She combines the raw power of sound with the delicacy of subtle modulations and transforms every space into a playground for sonic adventures.

Choreographer Meg Stuart, theater director Johan Simons and the avant-garde techno label Raster are among her regular creative partners. Mieko Suzuki's characteristic interpretation of sound creates equally powerful effects in a basement club, a theater play or a dance performance as it does in the context of visual art and haute couture.
One of her current projects is, for example, "Glitch Witch" by Meg Stuart, in which she is involved both as a performer and a musician.
