The Music Academy is the largest music program offered bythe German National Academic Foundation. With approximately 14,000 scholarship recipients, the GermanNational Academic Foundation is currently the largest and oldest organization supporting talented students in the Federal Republic of Germany. Since 2011, the Music Academy has been harnessing the extraordinary musical potential of current and former scholarship recipients through thematically coherent concert programs featuring over 200 participants annually in the fields of choral music, orchestra, composition, and musicology.

The Music Academy’s choir and orchestra are composed of music students as well as current and former scholarship recipients from a wide variety of disciplines, many of whom—as young students, award winners at the national“Jugend musiziert”competition, or as members of state and national youth orchestras, were on the verge of deciding to pursue a degree in music. Faculty members from the music academy, as well as members of leading orchestras and opera houses, participate as soloists and in the roles of principal wind players and section leaders. They are also responsible for rehearsing the orchestral sections and providing vocal training for the choir members.
