PUBLIC IMAGE LTD were founded in 1978 after John Lydon led the Sex Pistols. The band quickly developed into one of the most influential projects of the post-punk era. Their unconventional, ever-changing sound - a mixture of rock, dance, folk, pop and dub - and their uncompromising attitude earned PUBLIC IMAGE LT D five UK Top 20 singles and five UK Top 20 albums. From their groundbreaking debut "First Issue" to cult releases such as "Metal Box" and "That What Is Not" (1992), Lydon and changing line-ups shaped the musical environment of their time like no other band.
After a 17-year hiatus, Lydon reactivated PUBLIC IMAGE LTD in 2009. Since then, the band has toured worldwide and released three critically acclaimed studio albums: "This is PiL" (2012), "What The World Needs Now..." (2015) and most recently "End of World" (2023).
The announcement of the new tour follows a period in which Lydon thought he might never perform live again. In 2023, he lost two of the most important people in his life within a matter of months: his wife Nora in April and his lifelong friend and manager John Rambo Stevens in December, just after the conclusion of the last PUBLIC IMAGE LTD tour. Lydon spoke openly about how he couldn't see a way to go back on tour at the time. However, the overwhelming support of the fans and the response to his spoken word evenings gave him new strength - and ultimately the impetus to bring PUBLIC IMAGE LTD back on stage.
