The artist paints elegant still lifes that appear calm and uneventful in their contemplative mood. Not a fly crawls around, not a leaf hangs down - nothing distracts from the motifs. "I don't want my pictures to have a message." For him, only the motifs themselves are important. The aim of his painting is meditative reflection, complete immersion in the visual effect of the picture. "My philosophy is Eastern, my technique is purely Western," summarizes Rafael de la Rica.
