As the surviving half of the great songwriting duo behind Australian indie legends The Go-Betweens (alongside Grant McLennan, who passed away in 2006), Robert Forster has enjoyed a successful solo career. This is the hard-earned result of tireless concert tours, his work as a writer and critic ("Grant & I", "The Ten Rules of Rock'n'Roll", the forthcoming publication of his debut novel) and in the recording studio. A series of luxurious reissues of his first four solo albums, as well as the third and final installment of the career-spanning box set series "G Stands For Go-Betweens", is now followed by "Strawberries", solo album number nine, with a hotly anticipated batch of new songs, lovingly produced in a Stockholm studio by Peter Morén (himself a pop star with Peter, Björn & John). Alongside admittedly bigger names like Bob Dylan or Nick Cave, Robert Forster remains the very rare case of an artist with a great past whose current work is being received with real interest by more than just his loyal fan base.
