Sophie Herrndorf

In the artist's words:

Sophie Herrndorf was born Judith Herrndorf in 1984 and spent her childhood and youth in Cologne. At the age of thirteen, she said: "I'll either be a nun or a lesbian" and later chose the latter. She later changed her first name to Sophie. In her early twenties, she began writing a young adult novel, which was repeatedly shelved until it was published 14 years later by Querverlag under the title "Frag nicht nach gestern". Shortly afterwards, she self-published the sequel "Heute hier - morgen fort".

In March 2026, "Gehen wollen - bleiben sollen" was also published by Querverlag, a novel about lesbian motherhood, non-binary love and the struggle for self-realization.
