The KBCS - "cinematic, funky & atmospheric lowdown grooves from Hamburg/Germany"

The KBCS (Kay-Bee-Cees)
were first spotted in spring 2018 on the North Sea island of Föhr after an astronomical event in the constellation Snowman. They sound like a well-topped pizza with drums as dry and crispy as a perfect pizza crust and a rhythm section as tight as a folded pizza box. Although some KBCS prefer Vietnamese Phở soup without coriander, they still don't order it online because of the plastic waste.

In 2019, the debut album "Pho Sessions Vol.1" (Légère Recordings) was released to critical acclaim. This was followed by extensive acoustic experiments and various interstellar concert tours with friend and copper engraver Flo Mega. Unexpectedly, The KBCS received an interplanetary radio message from hip-hop legend Thomas D in 2020 and traveled directly to M.A.R.S to record an album with him
and to wait with pawing hooves for the first live concerts. The longplayer M.A.R.S Sessions saw the light of day in summer 2021. The sound waves that were clearly perceptible in scene circles penetrated into neighboring galaxies, so that the legendary Berlin label Sonar Kollektiv (Jazzanova, Fat Freddy's Drop) rolled out flying carpets
rolled out flying carpets to set off to new worlds together. In autumn 2021, The KBCS will release their brand new album Color Box, a cosmic delicacy and a funk flight through the continents: Nneka (Nigeria), J. Lamotta (Tel Aviv), Olivier St. Louis (Washington D.C.), Lui Hill (Palatinate) and Bowie (East Westphalia) embrace intimately with TheKBCS on this magical album. Some say that the spirit of Roy Ayers was also present in the studio, others blamed the local sauna.

This was followed by a live album (recorded in the legendary LITTLE BIG BEAT STUDIOS, Liechtenstein) with Thomas D and another album on the MARS:

Thomas D: "we made the first record "M.A.R.S. Sessions I" mainly so that I could finally perform all my favorite tracks live! This work is very close to the hearts of the KBCS and myself and you can feel all these emotions and feelings at our live concerts. There are two songs on the first album that really take off, namely "Uns trennt das Leben" and "Flüchtig". While performing, we realized, especially the guys from KBCS, that it's incredibly fun to really go wild on stage. That's how the idea came about to make a second record that's mainly rock and forward!"
