Thomas Meinecke

Thomas Meinecke, born in Hamburg in 1955, is a writer, musician and DJ. While still a student in Munich, he founded the literary magazine "Mode und Verzweiflung" (Fashion and Despair), from which the band F.S.K. (Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle) emerged in 1980, which still performs with almost the same line-up today. Since 1986, Meinecke has published numerous short stories, radio plays and novels, including "Tomboy" (1998) and "Lookalikes" (2011). Meinecke has received numerous prizes, including the Heimito von Doderer Literature Prize in 1997, the Kranichstein Literature Prize in 1998 and the Karl Sczuka Prize for Radio Play as Radio Art for "Translations/Translations" together with David Moufang in 2008. In 2011/2012 he gave the Frankfurt Poetry Lectures.
