Do you know Sven? The charming cap-wearing man invented wearemarvin in 2012. What began as a solo project joined the Hamburg underground pop scene in 2017 as a regular denim jacket gang. Sven, Velvet, Gary, Jannic and Johann are the charming anarchists from the club toilet who play music that somehow floats to the top.

Their first EP is called like the band and was released in March 2019. You could call it garage pop or music for the missed first rays of sunshine. Nevertheless, the record develops an ambiguous, reserved character lyrically. Sven sings of rejection and fears in a creaky voice. While " Sex on TV" seems melancholically broken, "Burning Eyes" offers an elegant finale with a subtle form of rock'n'roll catharsis. Perhaps they are a little above the clouds, perhaps a little underwater.

There's no denying that wearemarvin like the Strokes, but the Strokes certainly like wearemarvin too. Question: How does a stoned pigeon feel, gliding through the sun-drenched harbor basin and gleefully dropping a pile of shit on the magnificent buildings of Hamburg's high culture? Nobody knows. But wearemarvin's shimmering guitar melodies give an impression.

wearemarvin remain ambiguously intimate and therefore interesting.
